Whether you're prepping for birth or looking for a nourishing snack to keep your energy steady during those early postpartum days, these cocoa date balls are a favorite in our home.
They’re naturally sweet, easy to make, and packed with ingredients that support your body—especially in the third trimester and beyond. Medjool dates are rich in fiber, potassium, magnesium, and natural sugars that can give you a quick boost without a crash. Paired with healthy fats from almond butter and the antioxidant power of cocoa, these are a treat you can feel good about reaching for.
Curious why dates are so helpful in late pregnancy? Learn more about the benefits of eating dates in the third trimester here.
Ingredients

15 Medjool dates (about 10 oz, pitted)
½ cup almond butter (or any nut butter you love)
1 tsp cinnamon (optional)
9 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
1 tsp vanilla extract
For dusting:
Unsweetened shredded coconut
Instructions
Add all ingredients to a food processor and pulse until smooth and well combined.
Roll the mixture into small balls using your hands.
Spread shredded coconut on a plate and roll each ball in it to lightly coat.
Chill before serving—and enjoy!
Storage Tip
I like to freeze these flat on a plate, then transfer them to a ziplock bag once solid. They keep beautifully in the freezer—and no need to defrost before eating. Just grab and go!
From my heart (and kitchen) to yours,
Sumer
